Asana
Connect your personal Asana account to create and manage tasks, projects, and workspaces.
Overview
By integrating Suger with Asana, users can leverage automation workflows to manage their Asana tasks and projects. Tasks such as creating tasks, updating project status, and managing workspaces can be automated, improving efficiency and enabling customized workflows tailored to specific needs.
Asana provides two separate user integrations, each with its own OAuth app and credentials:
| Integration | OAuth App | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Asana (User) | Standard Asana OAuth | Automation workflows, task management |
| Asana MCP (User) | MCP-scoped OAuth | Suger AI tools (tokens scoped to mcp.asana.com only) |
The two integrations are independent — connecting one does not affect the other.
Create User Integration
-
Click
Connect Nowbutton in the User Integrations section, you will be redirected to the Asana OAuth authentication page. -
Click the
Allowbutton to grant Suger permission to access your Asana account. This authorization enables Suger to read and manage tasks on your behalf. -
After the authorization is granted, you will be redirected to the Suger console. You can see the integration is connected successfully.
-
Verify the integration by clicking the
Verifybutton. If the integration is successful, you will see theVerifiedstatus.
Create User Integration (MCP)
The Asana MCP integration uses a dedicated OAuth app registered separately in Asana. The tokens it issues are scoped exclusively to mcp.asana.com and cannot be used against the regular Asana REST API. This is the integration used by Suger AI.
- In the User Integrations section, find Asana MCP (User) and click Connect Asana Account.
- You will be redirected to Asana to authorize the MCP-scoped application.
- After authorization, you will be redirected back to Suger. The integration status will be set to
Verifiedautomatically.
Edit User Integration
For security purposes, editing an existing user Asana integration is not allowed. The practical way is to delete it and then re-create it from the beginning.
Delete User Integration
A user’s Asana integration can be deleted in the same manner as other user integrations. Once deletion is initiated, all integration data—including credentials and access tokens—will be permanently removed from Suger immediately. This action is irreversible and there is no recovery window.
Delete User Integration (MCP)
Deleting the Asana MCP integration removes the access token from Suger and revokes it on Asana’s side. This does not affect your standard Asana integration.
Suger AI Tools
Suger AI connects to Asana’s MCP server using the integration’s credentials.
User-level only (Asana MCP integration): Each user must connect their own Asana MCP (User) integration — separate from the standard Asana integration.
