Key Terms (Glossary)

The rest of the docs use these terms often. Skim them once, then refer back whenever a word is unfamiliar. For how the core objects relate to each other, see Resources.


Core objects

TermWhat it means
ProductYour listing on a cloud marketplace — the thing you sell. Manage all of yours in Products.
OfferHow a buyer can purchase a product. Either a public offer (self-serve, listed for anyone) or a private offer (negotiated for a specific buyer).
Public offerA standard, publicly listed offer any buyer can accept without negotiation.
Private offerA custom, negotiated offer (price, terms, duration) extended to one buyer. See Private Offers.
EntitlementThe active contract created when a buyer accepts an offer — what the buyer is entitled to use, and the record you meter and bill against.
BuyerThe customer who purchased your product in a marketplace.
CompanyA customer account in Suger that groups the buyers, contacts, and deals for one organization. See Companies.

Selling and billing

TermWhat it means
Quote-to-cashThe full journey from quoting a deal to collecting the cash — Suger centralizes this for marketplace deals.
MeteringReporting how much a customer used so usage-based pricing can be billed. See Usage Metering.
Usage dimensionA named unit you meter on (e.g. seats, API calls, GB).
DisbursementThe payout the cloud marketplace sends you after collecting a buyer’s payment (minus the marketplace fee). See How You Get Paid.
Entitlement termsThe commit, included quantity, and pricing attached to an entitlement — the basis for Usage Credits.

Co-sell and partners

TermWhat it means
Co-sellSelling jointly with a cloud provider’s sales team; you share a deal (“referral”) with the cloud so their reps help close it.
ReferralA co-sell deal shared between you and a cloud partner (inbound from the partner, or outbound from you).

Marketplace acronyms

TermWhat it means
CPPOChannel Partner Private Offer (AWS) — a private offer sold through a reseller/channel partner.
MPO / MPPOMultiparty Private Offer (Azure) — a private offer involving a publisher and a reseller.
MCPOMulti-party / channel private offer variant — a partner-mediated private offer.
ABOAgreement-Based Offer — a private offer created against an existing marketplace agreement.
EULAEnd-User License Agreement — the license terms a buyer accepts.
TCVTotal Contract Value — the full value of a deal over its term.

Access and setup

TermWhat it means
RBACRole-Based Access Control — standard and custom roles that decide what each teammate can do. See Account.
BYOKBring Your Own Key — using your own model-provider API key for AI features instead of Suger’s.
Marketplace accountYour seller account on a specific cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, …), connected to Suger during onboarding.
