# Entitlements

## Overview

When a buyer subscribes to your product on Alibaba Cloud Marketplace, Suger creates and maintains an **entitlement** that tracks the subscription lifecycle. Marketplace events (and periodic sync) drive the entitlement state.

## Lifecycle

| Marketplace event | Suger action |
|-------------------|--------------|
| Create instance | Creates the entitlement |
| Renew instance | Extends the entitlement term |
| Upgrade instance | Updates the entitlement's plan |
| Expire instance | Suspends the entitlement |
| Release instance | Cancels the entitlement |

Suger also periodically **syncs entitlements** from the marketplace to reconcile any events it may have missed. Trial subscriptions are recognized and flagged.

## Auto-cancel suspended entitlements

Suspended (expired) entitlements can be **automatically cancelled** after a configurable number of days. You can also configure how many days before an entitlement ends Suger sends an expiry notification.
